DESCRIPTION OF WORKSHOP: This 2-hour session will offer participants an opportunity to increase their understanding of substance use disorder (SUD) as a chronic disease of the brain while also exploring key considerations for treatment as an integrated practice. As with other chronic diseases successful treatment leading to sustained remission of a SUD requires an approach that supports disease management across the continuum of care. Key factors in the management of SUD may include behavioral health services, medication to treat addiction and on-going recovery supports designed to grow recovery capital and self-management skills.
